CONCEPT: The client wanted a simple gravestone of to commemorate her brother, an alpinist. To surround the stone, local mountainside vegetation (Saxifraga paniculata) was selected for its sculptural form (a dense basal rosette of leaves, which are leathery, flat and stiff), for its low-maintenance requirements, and for the beautiful white flowers that shootup 10-30 cm in the summer, creating the effect of fluffy white clouds on the ground.
